It is clear that young adult voters have a lot on the line this election cycle.
In 1954, I was working as a waitress at Kelly’s Truck Stop near Ashland, Va.; a highly-respected establishment along U.S. Route 1.
In Alfred Lord Tennyson’s 1835 poem “Locksley Hall” is the line, “In the spring, a young man’s fancy lightly turns to love.”
Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day are on the same day this year.
This is very unusual and seemed a bit odd to me. I tried to remember when this had happened before.
New Year’s resolutions remind us how hard it is to improve one’s life.
According to sources, the first “Neighborhood Watch” was formed by the National Sheriff’s Association in 1972.
But the association must not have ever been in Graham County.
One of the things that makes me proud of our community is the way we pull together when there is a need.
This is probably one of the hardest goodbyes I’ll ever make: I am resigning from my position as staff writer at The Graham Star.
For 10 years, I worked as the director of Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministries’ Steadfast House for women in west Asheville.
