Feb. 15, 2001

* The vacancy on the Robbinsville Town Council was filled by Johnny Williams. The seat was vacated by Steve Hooper, who moved out of city limits.

* Robbinsville wrestling’s “Senior Knight” proved very successful for the seniors. The Murphy Bulldogs fell victim to the Knights, 76-6. Preceding the match, three seniors were recognized: Daniel Findley, Dewitt Chekelelee and Nick Eller.

Feb. 15, 1996

* If you were a property owner, it might have been beneficial to pay your delinquent taxes. The county had hired someone to prepare the records necessary to turn them over for legal action. Also, an additional fee would apply to late fees of $600-$1,100 per action as collections began. “It takes money to ride the train,” said county commissioner Dale Wiggins.

* The Black Knights fell to Cherokee, 88-64, while the Lady Knights dropped an 84-57 game. Robbinsville coach Lonnie Snider and Lady Knights’ assistant coach Jack Brooms shared only positive comments, even after the losses.

Feb. 15, 1990

* Bemis Lumber Company – the oldest operating sawmill in Graham County – was up for sale. Bemis employed 60 people and had been in operation since 1927. The asking price for Bemis was $700,000.

* The Black Knights beat Murphy 89-62, improving their record to 12-3 overall. Robbinsville had four players score in double figures; Stuart Davis with 23 points,; and Travis CarverDavid Matheson and Dennis Williams with 14 points each. As a team, Robbinsville was averaging 84.2 points per game for the season.
