Deborah Ellen Sheffey Cable, 66 of Robbinsville, N.C., passed away peacefully at 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., after a very short illness with B-Cell Lymphoma caused by a prescribed medication for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Debbie was born March 26, 1955, in Murphy, N.C. She is the daughter of Ethel Beryl Hensley Sheffey and the late George Kent Sheffey.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dwayne Paul Cable of Robbinsville, N.C.; sons, J. Brett Cable of Morehead, Ky. and Austin B. Cable of Marble, N.C.; daughters, Chandra A. Cable of Robbinsville, N.C. and Alaina A. Cable of Waynesville, N.C.

Additionally, she is survived by sister Pamela Sheffey and husband Travis Eller of Robbinsville, N.C.; and brother, Kevin B. Sheffey of Robbinsville, N.C.; along with several nieces and nephews, as well as one 3-month-old grandson, Lucas Dean Cable (son of Austin Cable and Jerri-Ann Sullivan).

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, L. Kent Sheffey of Robbinsville, N.C.

Though retired since 2016, Debbie was a dental assistant for Patrick Kelley Dental Practice in Robbinsville, N.C. for 10 years. Additionally, Debbie was an excellent singer hosting in international karaoke singing group for over 10 years. She enjoyed family excursions, gardening, international cruises and caring for her many rescued dogs, cats and birds.

No services are planned. Debbie was a member of the Andrews Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
