With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Albert “Jackie” Bowman.

Jack passed away at Tsali Care Center in Cherokee, N.C. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022. He will be missed by family near and far.

Jack was born in Bakersville, N.C. where he grew up. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After his service in the Army, he later moved to Robbinsville, where he raised his family.

He was the son of the late Claude and Nora Rose Bowman.

Jack spent most of his life in construction. He was self-employed and operated Bowman’s Construction. He was a proud member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Survivors include his son, Kevin Bowman (Tiffany Deats Bowman); grandchildren, Brody, Trey, Cade, Reed and Pace Bowman; one sister; Shirley B. Greene; and many nieces and nephews that loved him so much.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shane Bowman; grandson; Tyler Bowman; brothers, Sonny, Leon and Jim Bowman; and his sisters, Gladys Bowman, Grace B. Hill and Ida B. Elliot.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, in the chapel of Henline-Hughes Funeral Home.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment followed the service at Bakersville Memorial Cemetery, with Sgt. EL Randolph Chapter 57 DAV conducting military honors.

Henline-Hughes Funeral Home in Bakersville, N.C. was in charge of all arrangements.
