* Superior Court Judge William Coward seemed unmoved to a plea, to reduce bond for a man charged with statutory rape of a 14 year-old girl. Casey Adam Haney, 37, remained in jail with a bond of $300,000. The appeal of reducing the bond to $100,000 was denied, considering the “very serious nature” of the alleged offense.

* As Angie Knight prepared to take over her duties as Graham County Schools Superintendent, she was making safety for students and staff her top priority. * New coaches, new faces, young players and a lack of practice time – due to bad weather – made a rough season start for the Black Knights baseball.
